To get a realistic picture of a system in forex, overnight rates need to be considered. I understand Traders Studio does this. Do the interest rates of currencies need to be manually input or are they stored in a data universe?

You need to setup the Forex data both in the data universe as well as the Configure Forex Menu. Read the chapter in the big manual about Forex. It will help explain the setup.
