Hi everybody,
I'm not in a position to make a complete opinion on the software, beacuse I’ve just registered and I still have my duties to pay in order to get acquainted whit TradersStudio (TS).
But, I read with attention the tutorial and a two things I can notice all at once:
1) Chronological order of the high and low in a bar "Tradestation's way" (No, this is not bouncing ticks; it’s simply the assumption that IF open of the bar is closer to the low than to the high, it is assumed low was made before the high).
I’ve already discussed about this with Murray at:
http://elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=50d309588fe1da302726c12f19bfeb44&threadid=69999&perpage=6&pagenumber=11
Because of this matter, as of today’s, Tradestation remains the only software that tests the way I like to test an entire family of trading systems I call “short term, stop and reverse volatility breakout” (I named them “short term” because the ATR multiplier I use can be < 1).
Would you consider to use the same assumption, maybe as an option (so, users that disagree with me are free not to use it?)?
Murray said version 2.5 will be able to have a stop intrabar on the same bar of entry. So, it would not be big deal to allow it to be not just a stop but a stop and reverse.
2) Stock trading
I have some questions about what the tutorial says on stock trading, but my first request is really simple: please consider, in future update, to allow to input commission – in a stock session – not just on a “cent per share basis” but also on a “trade” basis and on a “percent of trade price” basis (at present, I think, only slippage could be choose as “fixed” or “percent”).
In continental Europe, I don’t pay a “per share commission” but a “per-trade” or a “percent” commission.
And – by the way – using a per-trade commission is not only my reality, but it helps avoiding the bigger problem in using split adjusted data, that is, winning trades turned loser because split reduces daily range.
For example, if I invest 20.000 a trade, and for any trade I pay 10 $, it doesn’t matter what was the daily range: if the price is very low I get more shares for may money, and this reduces my “per share” commission.
Greetings,
Angelo. |
